Pirate Swing DJs

Ross Blythe

Whether the music is fast and hot or slow and smooth, Ross can be found on the dance floor. From the sounds of New Orleans to powerful big bands, juke joint bars to languid ballrooms, the music he plays is picked for the crowd. An established Lindy Hop and blues DJ residing in Chicago, Ross has made inroads into the Balboa scene as well playing the music that keeps the dancers dancing and the party rockin'. Ross has been dancing, teaching, and now DJing around the midwest and now international events in Canada (including a brief stint in Scotland) since 2009. He can be found DJing for 50Fifty, (formerly CodeBlue), Bluetopia, Chicago Balboa Underground, the Fizz, and other Lindy Hop, Blues, and Balboa events around the region.

Brooke Filsinger

Brooke's dj travels have had her criss-crossing North America (with the occasional European venture), sprinkling a little Canadia wherever she goes, but her heart belongs to Toronto, the place she calls home. Brooke's done it all - late nite house parties, exchanges, swing clubs, competitions - and she's always up for a new dj challenge! Be it swing standards, blues, funk or soul, Brooke loves full- bodied, `scrumdiddlyumptious' music, the kind that you can really sink your teeth into. She'll play that stuff that makes even the tiredest feet have to keep dancing all night long!

Chris Glasow

Before putting his dance shoes on for the first time, Chris was already in love with Jazz. He aims to bring his love of the music to the dance floor with every song. Blending vintage jazz from pre-swing, to fan favorites, to up-and-comers. Frequently found in his sets are songs or arrangements likely unfamiliar to a lot of the dance community but without sacrificing dancability. Whether it's a burried tune of a well known artist, or a famous tune of an un-known band, he doesn't let obscurity or being esoteric get in the way of moving you on the floor.

Mike Legenthal

Mike's love of blues and jazz has been obsessive for some time, and once she started running a weekly blues dance out of her home in Atlanta in 2008, she committed herself to the art of DJing. She has since gone on to DJ sets around the country, from Austin to San Fransisco to Boston. She prides herself on providing a variety of styles and eras in each of her sets, and strives to create a sound that is both unique and inspiring; she also aspires to expose people to new music, and to challenge their dancing.

Emilie Richard

Emilie has always loved music, but for the past year, her love, appreciation and passion for jazz and blues has been set on fire! She is a fun and energetic spirit, which clearly shows in how she plays music for the dance floor. Emilie has been Djing at every chance she gets in St. Louis, MO and is a regular DJ for the lindy and blues scene. She is ready and excited to make your feet move throughout the weekend!

Brent Watson

Brent is happy to be welcomed back again to for a 3rd year to Ann Arbor. He is best known for inviting people to the dance floor by spinning tunes for all crowds, whether you want to swing-out hard, or take it nice and easy. Blues or Lindy-hop, he cannot be limited to one style, always playing the right tunes perfect for the moment! Expect to hear obscure tunes sprinkled with some of the tunes you all know and love, leaning on that driving riffin' sound. You will catch Brent most often in the Indianapolis/Lafayette area as well as other events around the Midwest. Before you know it his tunes have you dancing, laughing and having a good time!

The beatings will continue until swingouts improve
